In the first three months of this year Micro Compact Car smart GmbH sold more than 28,400 City-Coupés and Cabrios, increasing sales by 13.3 percent compared with the corresponding period last year (25,084 cars).

In the first quarter of this year Germany and Italy were again the strongest markets, with 9,012 and 8,514 cars sold respectively. Great Britain and Japan had the strongest growth rates with 2,443 cars delivered to Great Britain (previous year: 538) and 2,105 cars delivered to Japan (previous year: 1,417). The growth rates in these two countries are largely due to the success of the right-hand-drive smart, which has been available since the end of last year.
